Competence & eDepot Assistant [United Kingdom]


 

Main Purpose

An eDepot embraces technology and strives to replace former paper processes with electronic replacements at local level. The main purpose of this role is to work closely with key stakeholders including front line staff and managers to implement the commitments outlined in South Western Railway's eDepot plan. This role is also fundamental to managing the ACMS database that is used by managers and assessors to manage the competence of Safety Critical staff and incident investigations.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Maintain our competence and investigation database and work with users to triage all issues and development.
  • Develop briefing material including written and video information for colleagues.
  • Work with our IT department and Operational Safety Training Centre to ensure trainees mobile devices are ready for new trainees and provide training on the use of them.
  • Undertake depot surgeries to assist front line staff with their mobile devices.
  • Support super users at the depots with advanced level of knowledge for diagnosing faults with mobile devices and advanced training.
  • Identify processes and procedures at the depots that can be converted to electronic replacements.
  • Work with IT to review and test updates to software and apps to ensure a smooth roll out to front line staff.
  • Provide back-office data to the managers on usage reports to assist those who may have difficulties with their devices.
  • Manage the Document Distribution library to ensure up to date information is available

Minimum Requirements

  • GCSE Maths and English Grade A-C
  • Possess a flexible approach in ensuring customer needs are met.
  • Preparedness to travel across the South Western Railway network to attend meetings as and when required.
  • Demonstrate strong time management, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Conscientious with an attention to detail particularly in relation to the creation of documentation and understanding procedures.
  • Must demonstrate a willingness to learn new systems, skills and behaviours.
  • Experience in appropriate IT packages including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams
  • A good knowledge of android mobile devices

Working Pattern

Working an average of 37 hours per week.

Monday - Friday, office hours.
